Journey-2019——-
This coming year everyone must have made few resolutions like you will do so and so certification, will hit the first bounty, open a startup, will go to gym etc.Like everyone I also made many resolution in 2019 out of which few were successful, few helped me to progress in my life across various verticals. And yes I am writing this blog to share my experience about how I spend my 2019 with many ups and downs, which gave me a learning experience not only in my career but also as a human being.
I want to start with the very first month of the year.In January as I was preparing for OSCE exam, I took this certification to enhance my skills in reverse engineering and binary exploitation as I was very keen to learn many concepts and also wanted to follow my goal of doing one certification every year.I booked my exam on 16th of January and after vicious 48 hours of exam, I cleared the OSCE. This was the first achievement of 2019 and I was happy that my hard work paid off but this was just the beginning.
I learnt many new concepts and techniques which I always wanted to share with the community.I used to attend Null Mumbai session and gained knowledge from the community.I registered with Null Mumbai to conduct Humla workshop on “Basics of custom Shellcoding”.This was the first platform on which I got opportunity to talk and share knowledge.
Another big knowledge sharing platform is blackhat and I always wanted to attend the training’s, but unfortunately I was not able to attend the training which I shortlisted due to insufficient funds. Then I thought of attending the briefing so at least I will get an idea about the conference. The conference in Singapore was wonderful that I got to meet so many new people and learnt new techniques. There were many talks on DevSecOps, Car Hacking, Browser Exploitation, Industrial Hacking etc. After attending the briefings I explored places in Singapore and decided to shift here.
After coming back, I started hunting for new opportunities in Singapore. The starting phase was very difficult from getting resume shortlisted to getting a single call.I started making connections on LinkedIn and after one month I got the first call.I always decided whenever I will get a single opportunity I will utilize it to the fullest. While I was preparing for the interview, there were some insecure people who tried to create an atmosphere where I couldn’t concentrate and focus. But they could not hamper my determination and after all these situation, I was able to clear all rounds and got selected.Thank you to my family and friends who helped me.
I decided to initiate something before I leave Mumbai, so I decided to conduct a workshop on buffer overflow for infosec girls Mumbai.I would like to thank for giving me the opportunity.
Finally the day came when I had to say goodbye to everyone. Many thanks to my parents who always trusted and believed me.On 1st August I flied to Singapore and started a new phase of my career which was never easy as I had to start hunting for new place to stay, had to make new friends and getting stabilized with the job. After coming, I started searching for the active Cyber Security group. From there I got to know that Div0 is most active group.I started attending the talks and coordinated with @Emil Tan for taking 4-part workshop. In this workshop I met many new wonderful people who were keen to learn.I would like to thank @Emil Tan for giving me the opportunity.
Apart from Cyber Security, I also enjoy running and doing yoga.I am also an active member of Pinkathon , which is an all women fitness group.Being a part of this group helped me achieve my personal fitness goals.I would like thank @sweta Samota and Pinkathon for encouraging me.
There are few quotes which inspired me:
1.Being goal oriented helps you to grow
2.If you want to walk fast, walk alone. But if you want to walk far, walk together.Hence always help others to grows as you grow.-Ratan Tata
3.Share your knowledge its a way to achieve immortality.-Dalai Lama
Lastly I want to thank you @Arnold Anthony for motivating me.
